The U.S. Coast Guard has suspended its search for a missing Kona woman in the waters off Kapoho.

The U.S. Coast Guard has suspended its search for a missing Kona woman in the waters off Kapoho.

A spokeswoman said the Coast Guard’s active search for 33-year-old Amber Savant ended late Wednesday, though a cutter remains available if needed.

About 4,516 square miles were searched, the Coast Guard said.

Savant is presumed to have been swept out to sea Sunday while free diving near Kapoho Bay. Her gear, including fins and snorkel, were found in the bay.

The spokeswoman said she believed the Hawaii Fire Department was continuing its search. The department couldn’t be immediately reached for comment.

The U.S. Navy also has ended its participation in the search.
